Estimated to be over 6,000 years old, SCP-088 possesses reptilian features and the ability to secrete multiple highly hazardous biological compounds from its hands and mouth. These substances could be of immense strategic value, but any attempt to extract them risks awakening the entity — an outcome considered catastrophic.

Recovered alongside the remains of 23 similarly shaped beings, SCP-088 is believed to have once been part of a larger civilization. Evidence suggests these others were originally human, transformed through prolonged exposure before ultimately perishing. SCP-088 alone survived by entering deep hibernation.
